Why Edrovia?

I always struggle to find the perfect birthday gift for Stephanie. Each year, it gets harder—how do you top something that was already meaningful, personal, and just right? This year, I decided to take a different approach and whisk her away to the Depot Lodge in Paint Bank, Virginia, where we stayed at the secluded and beautifully appointed Creekside Camp.

We had no idea we’d be stepping back in time to a place that feels almost untouched. Surrounded by nature, serenaded by Potts Creek, and with only the occasional motorcycle passing through for Memorial Day, the quiet was a gift all on its own. From the moment we arrived, we fell in love. Stephanie looked around at the wrap-around porch, the creek, the fire pit, the stars above—and said she felt like a princess. That’s when we knew: this wasn’t just a getaway, it was the founding of a new land. We dubbed it The Country of Edrovia.

We’ve been to a lot of places over the years, and most of them fall into the “been there, done that” category. But not this one. The Depot Lodge—and Edrovia—will absolutely be seeing us again. After all, every country needs its Marquess and Marchioness.
